The Kettle & Stony Point First Nation Chief and Council established a Land Code Development Committee to develop a land code bylaw through consultation with First Nation Members .

The purpose of the Land Code is to replace existing sections of the Indian Act as they pertain to lands management. This process is made possible through the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management, which was ratified by Canada by the passage of the First Nation Land Management Act (Bill C-49) in June 1999.

Prior to implementation, Members will have to accept the Land Code through a ratification vote.

Once accepted by the Members, the Land Code will enable the First Nation to manage their own lands at the community level.  It will give the First Nation the freedom to develop our First Nation community without the strongholds and restrictions under the Indian Act.

Welcome to the Land Code Development Web Site.  We hope that you find everything that you are looking for.  If you require more information, or would like to discuss the Land Code initiative, please feel free to Contact Us.
